DJ Poizen started experimenting with turntables in high school and making tracks with friends using an old Roland 606 and cuts from a Sansui turntable. A crude ghetto set up for sure. When Poizen got some cash together he had o decide if he should buy a car or DJ equipment. He thought about it for a few days than decided. Fuck a car!! Im gettin some 1200's (turntables). Now stuck at home with no means of transportation Poizen was forced to practice scratching every fucking night driving his Pops crazy while he was trying to sleep. After about 2 months Poizen was able to do any type of D.J. trick he had ever heard. This is when he started unlearning and incorporating his basic skills to evolve into his own styles. Poizen's skill evolved from copying Mix Master Ice cuts to battling D.J.'s and D.J. crews sometimes on their own equipment. Poizen enjoys D.J.ing like a porn star enjoys hittin skins. Poizen:, "When I scratch to a dope beat it feels good, like Im some kind of...uh, fuckin ninja guru entity on a mission". Poizen met Kool Kyle through a friend who he was teaching how to D.J.

Kool Kyle and Poizen soon realized they were on the same page as far as taste in music and creativity. This led to the production of Hip Hop on the Moon and many other projects.
